What is Prayer (Prarthana) & how this Works? . Almost every religion speaks about prayer to God for seeking the help of GOD and believes in the same, so, first of all we must understand “what is Prayer?” . What is Prayer or Prarthana and whether it Works? . The dictionaries meaning of prayer is “reverent petition made to God”, or to another object of worship. This is one of the modes of communication with God, such as in devotion, confession, praise, or thanksgiving. So spiritually, Prayer means a petition to the GOD asking for something from GOD which one feels is beyond his own reach / Control. . The People pray for health, safety, security, job promotion, wealth, world peace etc. the question is whether prayer really works? . If you look for the instances in religious books and stories then this is mentioned everywhere that prayers work. But everyone feels that prayers seem to work at times and do not work at other times and even some claims that to have received answers to even their negative prayers. So, the atheist would conclude that answered prayers are a mere coincidence. . However, this article on prayer as a matter of faith and not to convince skeptics, atheist or to establish scientific proof. This article is directed at people who want to research spiritually and experience themselves whether prayer works for them or not and if works then how it works. And since some people experience that prayer works at times, then this becomes important to know that ‘How Prayer Works?’, whether there are some principles or methods of praying etc. So, this is the point to be dealt with in this Article. .
Basics of a Prayer . When we are in trouble we may pray for recovery, removing the obstacles etc.. If a hurricane threatens to destroy a home, the occupants may pray for their safety. And there are numerous examples of people in trouble receiving answers to their prayers. So, if you see, there seems to be few basics behind your prayer, the main ingredients are: . 1. Faith: Behind the prayer faith is basic element. . 2. Positive Thoughts: most of the time we pray to clear some negative event, possibility etc. and pray for the positive to come; this creates lots of positive energy inside and around the person. . 3. Visualization: when we pay we visualize for the positive event, visualize that the difficulty is disappearing or for some achievement. . 4. Doubtless mind: When we pray there is no doubt in our mind, because we pray to the infinite God and firmly believe that nothing is impossible for God. . The Power behind Prayer . The above factors are the basic ingredient of Prayer and so first essential is faith, then comes the positive thoughts, because once you are under trouble then your faith comes as small boat for a sinking man in a sea, because it gives a rise to thought that there is something / someone who can help consequently creates an environment for positive thoughts. . Then comes the visualization a very important part, visualization is seeing your positive thought reap, so visualization is the power behind thought. Some questions arise, “How powerful is a thought? Can a thought affect physical objects or our health?” in common language we can say that thought changes the state of mind. Clinical studies have established that thoughts can carry a creative force in physical well being; spiritual healings like “Reki” has the same basis. To take is from reverse, chronic stress created by anxiety, grief, and anger acts to produce physical states like hypertension, ulcers, and even cancers. . So on the similar principal Positive Thinking with the power of visualization can reverse the situation known to bring relief to heart-related health conditions, reduces stress, high blood pressure etc. . Positive thoughts purportedly have an effect even on physical objects as claimed by Dr. Emoto Masaru, head of the I.H.M. General Research Institute. His book, Messages from Water, describes his experiments where geometric order, in hexagonal form, appears in crystals of frozen water exposed to positive influence. And yet negative influence can be so powerful that crystals do not form at all, he you the word “thank You” and “You Fool” being written and pasted on the water bottles. There are also other studies available which seem to support this claim. .
So, it appears from various studies, that our thoughts can affect both, our physical well being as well as external reality. So, if thoughts have such great power, it could mean a prayer too can wield power to help us get whatever we want. Some scripture even treat our thoughts as ground whether the real life first come into existence and then it manifest in our real life, that is why this is said that first be aware of your thoughts rest will automatically be under control. This is the power of thoughts. . Now, comes the importance if doubtless mind, because, this give the strength to your prayer. If you have doubt in you mind about the prayer to come true, you are pulling the rope from both sides and applying both negative and positive force on the prayer, so this reduces the power or force of your thoughts and consequently weaken you prayer. . In Prayer distance do not matter this is written by Dr. Emoto Masaru in his above Book “We have only experimented once with that in the book. But from that experiment, distance did not seem to matter. The intention and prayers of the person still influenced the water. We have not yet tried further experiments from a long distance. However, my feeling is that distance would not make much of a difference. What would make a difference is the purity of intent of the person doing the praying. The higher the purity of intent, the less of a difference the distance itself would make.” .
When is a Prayer Answered? .
Now comes the question “When is a prayer answered?” As discussed earlier, the effects of positive and negative thinking, so the secret, therefore, seems to be in positive thinking in a doubtless mind. In terms of prayer, persistent thought translates as persistent prayer into reality. . This means, the stronger the faith, the stronger will be positive thoughts and their visualization, this makes a prayer come true or you can say answered, alongwith this the doubtless mind accelerate the thoughts and also reduces the time in which the prayer come true. .
Why Pray to God? .
If prayer is mere visualization of positive thoughts, then the question arises, why pray to God? How some religions see it is: humans have the power to create the intention, but it is only God who can materialize this. This is because of the reason that all the above ingredient of prayer create an environment for allowing the positive energy to emerge and work and there is something or someone who is the source of this all energies that source is GOD, so, we pray to the infinite God to let our pray come true. . Similarly, when a person grows in his spiritual journey and reaches at the stage where he himself becomes the source of the energy then the Concept in Hindu Vedas of “Aham Brahashmi” or “I am GOD” comes and the necessity of all support, negative, positive etc. goes and every single thought of you equals the word of GOD’s power and bound to manifest according to your will. .
In conclusion, the Prayers to come true, this must be a faithful visualization of positive thought in a doubtless mind. Finally, even if one argues that prayer does not change things, it definitely changes the energy in you; your mind set and helps you cope better with the ups and downs of life.
